LightTroupe has been active on many fronts !
In May, we finished production of Evilish, a digital puppet play written, directed, hand-drawn, Luz-animated, and performed by young people at The Roost.
Soon after, we took part in WebVisions 2011, creating the LightLounge where attendees could relax and interact with live visual fun.
Meanwhile, our happy hackers have been developing all-new live digital drawing techniques, and sneak peaks have been seen in capable hands at tens of locations around Portland thus far. (Join LightTroupe on Facebook to see some of the results.)
Until next time... work hard! play light!
This year we've found opportunities for involvement all around Portland. We've teamed up with CampFire USA and the folks at The Roost to share with the kids there the creative world of live motion graphics, multi-player digital drawing on projectors, and our custom open-source software that drives the show, Luz Studio.
We've upgraded our visual presentation through advancements in software and the aquisition of the first LuzBox, dedicated lightning-fast hardware to run the show. (Now our laptops can have the night off.)
On January 26th we will be presenting interactive digital light creations at OMSI, the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry ($10, 6-10pm, 21+).
LightTroupe combines projection and live DMX control for room-filling interactive light.
Here a gaming joystick controls the overhead lighting, and you are always invited to play!
On the left wall we projected a behind-the-scenes look at the live music spectrum analysis, whose signal was at times used to drive the house lights:

LightTroupe will be creating a unique light and sound play space at WebVisions 2011, as well as presenting the technology behind the magic at 11am.
This will be a laid-back, open forum for people to explore LightTroupe's Luz Studio software and the new art-form of live interactive digital projection.
We will play with computer vision, skeleton tracking, digital painting, and explore Luz Studio's new DMX light control.
LightTroupe will be providing live music-visuals for Yours and Morning Teleportation.
In collaboration with The Roost, we'll be making a Light Tent with Wacom digital light drawing accessible to kids of all ages.
LightTroupe will make its second appearance at Renn Fayre's Black Lodge, with LightGoggles in tote for the celebratory masses!
We are excited and honored to be joining ACM/SIGGRAPH Northwest in presenting Luz Studio, our custom open-source software driving the fun.
The talk will include the history and philosophy of Luz, live motion graphic creation, tutorials, and several live performances.
$5 at the door, free for SIGGRAPH members.
